When we eat outside on the patio, I like to use placemats. To make it easy and "festive", I took a variety of scraps of fabric and made placemats:

I sewed a strip of ribbon onto each placemat to hold the napkin and silverware:

Each ribbon is stitched on the left side:

I made a bunch of napkins from gingham scraps, "pinking" the edges:

Silverware can be wrapped inside the napkin, then tied onto the placemat:

There is absolutely NO coordinating going on here - anything goes!

I rolled them all up, napkins and silverware inside:

I placed them in a polka dot box:

And they are ready to be used:

They can be easily washed and reused all summer:
